Coffee, Conversation and Community: What We Learned from You
BY | 10 Jul 2026 | BLOG
At Petit Miracles, our work has always been shaped by the people who walk through our doors: participants, volunteers, customers, local residents, partners, funders, businesses, schools and supporters.
Recently, we invited our community to help shape the future of Petit Miracles. We wanted to hear what people value most about our work, what barriers still get in the way, and what opportunities they would like to see us develop next.
The event brought together people from across our community for an afternoon of conversation, feedback and connection. Guests sampled Miracle Brews coffee and espresso martinis, with delicious refreshments provided by Nourish Hub, our valued community partner.
Most importantly, people shared their honest views about what Petit Miracles means to them and how we can continue to grow in a way that remains practical, inclusive and rooted in community need.
What you told us
The message from our community was clear: Petit Miracles is seen as a creative, welcoming, community-focused and supportive place.
People told us they value the practical, hands-on nature of our work. Furniture restoration and upcycling came through strongly as one of the services people most associate with Petit Miracles, alongside traineeships, work experience, workshops, retail skills and enterprise-based learning.
This matters because Petit Miracles is not just a shop, a workshop or a place to buy restored furniture. It is a place where people can build confidence, learn practical skills, meet others, and take steps towards employment, volunteering, further training or simply feeling more connected.
Confidence is at the heart of the work

One of the strongest themes from the feedback was confidence.
People told us that Petit Miracles helps people feel more able, more included and more prepared for the world of work. Many also highlighted the importance of reducing isolation and creating a space where people feel safe enough to try something new.
We also heard clearly that getting started is not always easy. The biggest barriers people identified included not knowing what is available, feeling anxious or nervous, not knowing anyone there, and lacking confidence.
That feedback is incredibly useful. It reminds us that the first step into a programme can be the hardest one. It also reinforces the importance of friendly welcomes, clear information, taster sessions, supportive staff, refreshments, flexible opportunities and low-pressure ways for people to get involved.
Practical support makes the difference

People also told us what helps someone succeed once they are taking part.
The most important forms of support included step-by-step instructions, help with anxiety or nerves, regular feedback, clear tasks, flexible hours and having a named person to go to for help. These are not small details. They are the things that turn a placement, workshop or traineeship into a genuinely supportive learning experience.
At Petit Miracles, we know that people do not all arrive with the same confidence, networks, experience or access to opportunity. That is why our model combines practical learning with encouragement, structure and human support.
What you want to see next
Looking ahead, people told us they would like to see more:
- Work experience placements
- Youth opportunities
- Adult learning
- Traineeships
- Practical workshops
- Employer links
- Support for people with disabilities
- Opportunities linked to retail, enterprise and hospitality
You also shared ideas for future workshops and training, including customer service,

digital skills, CV and interview preparation, confidence-building and barista training through Miracle Brews.
This feedback gives us a clear direction. Our community wants Petit Miracles to keep doing what it does best: creating practical, welcoming and meaningful routes into skills, confidence, connection and opportunity.
A community-shaped future
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came along, completed the survey, shared ideas, offered encouragement or challenged us to think more deeply about what is needed.
Your feedback will directly shape our planning over the next 12 months. We will use it to improve how people find out about Petit Miracles, make our entry points clearer and more welcoming, strengthen our traineeships and work experience offer, and develop workshops that respond to what the community has asked for.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a warm and useful afternoon. Thank you to Miracle Brews for helping us showcase our growing coffee-bike programme, and to Nourish Hub, our community partner, for providing refreshments and supporting the spirit of community that sits at the heart of our work.
Most of all, thank you to everyone who continues to believe in Petit Miracles.
Together, we are building skills, confidence and community: one restored piece, one conversation and one opportunity at a time.
